For the longest time, Filipinos and foreigners alike have always chosen a few specific Philippine destinations as part of their go-to destinations: Boracay, El Nido, Cebu, and the like.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with these destinations, however, their unprecedented popularity have often overshadowed other unique Philippine destinations who simply have insufficient funding to market themselves to a larger crowd. But with the advent of social media and the internet, it’s now easier than ever to market a wonderful destination with a few taps on the screen. Now, unique travel destinations like the Lanao del Sur of ARMM have a fighting chance of making a name for themselves in the hearts of intrepid travelers the world over.
For the longest time, travelers have chalked off this destination as being boring, or simply not compelling enough to visit. Coupled with misconceptions about the people and the natives, visitors have avoided this place entirely. However, the Philippine Paragliding and Hang Gliding Association (PPHGA) are here to change all misconceptions, and revive this destination.
Visitors to Marawi City will be given the opportunity to participate in heart-racing activities, one of which includes the “Marawi Paraglide,” supervised by members of the PPHGA themselves. Being one with the skies here in Lanao del Sur warrants you a spectacular view of landmarks of Lanao, including Lake Lanao and the stone Torogan of the Maranaos from a bird’s eye view.
According to the publisher of the video, The Travel Teller, he only wanted to see some of the most iconic destinations in Lanao, but the Marawi Paraglide experience showed me much more than that! Travel Teller adds, “I never expected to fly in the skies of Lanao del Sur. Awemazing experience!” You can watch the high-flying video below:
