7 Thrilling Activities That Will Unleash the Adventurous You This 2017

This coming 2017, toss the ’boring’ out your window, make no excuses, leave your comfort zone and take the risk, as we give you a list of activities that will surely change your life for the good - better yet, exhilarating.

Sandboarding

It’s like surfing but in sand. This activity that is thrilling, minus the sand inside your mouth, is a must-try. You can experiment with whatever works for you, some do it alone, others in pair, while some are in a sitting position, the best ones do it standing up.

This activity can be done at the La Paz San Dunes in Ilocos Norte. Located in the town of Laoag, this 85 sq. km. coastal desert is part of the protected Ilocos Norte Sand Dunes.

How to go there:
By land
From Manila, go to a nearby bus station that offers trips to Laoag. Travel time is around 10-12 hours.

By air
Several flight are available from Manila going to Laoag City

 

Sky Diving in Cebu

If you want to jump of a plane ala James Bond, this would be the idyllic activity for you. Don’t worry, you jump out of the plane with a professional skydiver. It’s called tandem jumps that will cost around Php 20k or so, and more than a Php 100k if you would like to take a course that would prepare you to jump off by yourself.

This activity is offered by Skydive Greater Cebu in Bantayan Island. 

How to go there:
By sea/land
If you’re coming from one of its nearby islands, such as Bohol and Negros, you could take scheduled ferries that dock to the shores of Cebu Island. From there, ride a van going to the north of Cebu where you could hail boat going to Bantayan Island.

By air
Several direct flights to Cebu are offered by airlines from Manila. Flight time is about an hour and 15 minutes. From Cebu City, take a bus in Cebu North Terminal bound for Hagnaya Port in the town of San Remigio. After 3 hours and Php 160 bus fee, hop on to a public ferry to Sta. Fe.

 

Tree Drop in Subic

This adventure from 60 feet high would surely satiate your desire for the extreme. Make sure you can take the burst of adrenaline rush as it seeps through every fiber of your being. The secret to conquering heights? Just do it. 

This heart-pumping activity is offered by Tree Top Adventure Subic located in the Jest Area. It’s the first in Asia of motorized zip lines. 

How to go there:
By land
Hop on a bus in Cubao bound for Olongapo via DAU-SCTEX. From Olongapo City, ride a jeepney going to Sta. Rita and get-off at “Olongapo City Mall.” From there walk to Subic’s main gate.

 

Mermaid Swimming in Boracay

Hola, girls! I bet your 5-year-old self would beg you to put on these dreamlike tails that will bring back the ‘Little Mermaid’ in you. Just off-coast Panay Island is the world renowned Boracay Island. Its sands that are almost as white as snow and turquoise waters would be the perfect background to that most coveted mermaid version of you.

Mermaid swimming lessons are offered by the Philippine Mermaid Swimming Academy in Boracay. If you’re a non-swimmer you could opt to take their non-certification course that is solely for Mermaid Photo Op where instructors would lead you through a series of Mermaid poses.

How to go there:
By sea/land
From Batangas Port, hop on a ferry that goes straight to the port of Caticalan. It’s an overnight travel so make sure you have the luxury of time to do so.

By air
From Manila, you could book flights going to Kalibo or Caticlan. Thereafter, if you’re in Kalibo, you will ride a van/shuttle going to Caticlan, where boats bound for Boracay Island are available. 


Flyboarding in Subic

How about we spend a day in the life of a cyborg? Only this time, you levitate over the ocean to staggering heights ranging 10 to 30 feet high by a board spitting thousands of gallons of water per minute. Not only that, you could also have both flight and water time simultaneously, mimicking graceful movements from a dolphin’s undulation

Several adventure companies are offering this activity in Subic.

Manta Ray Dive Wing in Anilao Batangas

Is this list getting more electrifying or what? This time, we fly underwater with a Manta Dive Wing. This time we mimic the movements of a manta ray, thus its name, with a wing-shaped glider board that is pulled by a jetski. The whole experience lasts for about 15 minutes. Riders could maneuver the glider to go underwater or to the surface to breath

How to go there:
By land:
From Cubao, hop on a bus bound for Batangas City that is about 3 hours of travel time. Thereafter, hail a jeepney to Mabini, where you will get-off at the Anilao Port. 

 

Parasailing in Boracay

If you’re a couch potato and does not fancy exerting too much effort for such activities, we suggest you try Parasailing in Boracay. This activity will only require you to sit at the back of a boat securely harnessed to a parachute-like ride and as the boat gains velocity, the next thing you know, you’re way up there in the air. It only takes 15 minutes, enough to get you wide-eyed in this adventure called life.
