Witness the largest flaming image using candles on April 14, 2014. Be a light of peace for world peace!


The Savannah Football Field where 100,000 candles are going to be lighted on April 14, 2014.

The annual "Light of Peace in the Philippines" event is held by the Middle Way Meditation Institute (Iloilo) and six other core organizers to promote "World Peace through Inner Peace" -- helping people experience true happiness through meditation.


These core organizers are:

  • Thailand-based Middle Way Meditation Institute (MMI)
  • The Villar SIPAG (Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance)
  • The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Jaro, The Province of Iloilo
  • The City of Iloilo
  • The Commission on Higher Education (CHED)
  • The Department of Education (DepED)


Sir Riscevo Tanmado, representative of the Department of Education and Venerable Burin Thitakusalo, Director of the Middle Way Meditation Institute (Iloilo) took part in an interview with ABS-CBN Sikat Ka! Iloilo.

Activities include:

  • Meditating together in 30 minutes – to celebrate inner peace and promote world peace;
  • Candle lighting – creating the World’s Largest Flaming Image with 100,000 candles depicting the Philippines’ map, and keep it aflame for 5 seconds to set a new Guinness record;
  • Memorial activities for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.


Be part of this historic and meaningful occasion as 100,000 people will simultaneously light 100,000 candles for world peace.
