The history of Iloilo's Dinagyang, one of the biggest festivals not only in Visayas but in the entire country can be traced through the devotion to Senyor Sto.Niño. The festival also commemorates the legendary barter trade from the Ati natives and the arrival of the Malay settlers.
The festivities revolve around the the theme "TimelessTradition, Culture, and Devotion" which will be highlighted through various activities from January 26-28.
Currently on its 50th year, attendees of the Dinagyang Festival will be treated to fun and action-packed activities prepared by the committees of the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. (IDFI).
Masses and other liturgical ceremonies— Diana, blessing of religious articles, blessing of pregnant mothers and their children— will also be held in honor of Senyor Santo Niño.
As part of the opening salvo of the festivities, beautiful candidates representing their hometowns competed for the "Miss Iloilo Dinagyang" title last January 19.
There are also sporting events such as basketball, billiards, dart, archery, swimming, taekwondo, fun runs, and other physical activities for the athletic ones.
