Savores: Witness The "Olympics Of Food" In Zamboanga

The Deparment of Tourism Regional Office IX in partnership with the City Government of Zamboanga-Tourism Unit and Hotel and Restaurant Association of Zamboanga City will once again host one of the region’s most anticipated culinary event on April 22,2017, Saturday at Centro Latino Paseo del Mar, Zamboanga City following its successful introduction last year.
Zamboanga City boasts its diverse shared flavors and influences from different locales and regions such as the Arab nation, Malaysia, China, and Spain. The event is intended to heighten tourism product development especially on culinary tourism in Zamboanga.
This year’s event will be featuring talents and skills demonstration of participating exhibitors from food production sector and iconic restaurants in Zamboanga City. A Culinary Tour and Media Familiarization tour organized by the Tourism Promotions Board and Department of Tourism Regional Office 9 will also be conducted on April 21-23, 2017 with media professionals such as travel and lifestyle bloggers, and tourism press corps of Zamboanga-based participants.
Savores—a Chavacano term meaning ‘flavors’—is principally organized by the City Government of Zamboanga, Department of Tourism Regional Office 9, and Hotel-Restaurant Association of Zamboanga City (HRAZC). The project is also being supported by the Department of Tourism promotional arm- Tourism Promotion Board which is currently chaired by Movie Actor, Cesar Montano.
Food Manufacturing Companies, Restaurants, and food-related enterprises are expected to exhibit the best of their bests in this event. Mr. Bryan Go, President of HRAZC and General Manager of garden Orchid Hotel mentioned that the event will showcase talents, skills and unique fusion of flavors of Zamboanga’s bests.
Mayor Maria Isabelle “Beng” Climaco and the City Government of Zamboanga is in full support of the endeavors and initiatives of the tourism sector in the city. With the active promotional activities initiated by the City Tourism Office headed by Ms. Sarita Sebastian Hernandez, Zamboanga is set to change the mindset of travelers especially those who have not been to Zamboanga and further improve the overall experience unique to Zamboanga.
Department of Tourism Regional Office 9 spearheaded by Regional Director Antonio Fernando Blanco together with City Government of Zamboanga, Hotel-Restaurant Association of Zamboanga and allied organizations is strengthening its partnership and convergence program to help boost tourism in the City of Zamboanga. It’s campaign “It’s More Fun in the Philippines”, will be playing in tune with Zamboanga’s recent tourism campaign “I Love ZC (Zamboanga City)” especially when visitors’ feel that the city’s wide array offerings make them stay a bit longer when with Filipinos and Zamboangueño kind of accommodation.
