They say Christmas Holidays are for spending quality time with family and friends, but what if you’re in some place else, where your significant ones are a thousand miles away? Also, let’s not forget about introverted souls who are at the extreme-end of the spectrum - wired into spending the most festive time of the year alone.

No need to fret, we’re here to cover the Christmas chills and frills for you. Here’s a list of islands that are most unheard-of, islands that shy away from flocks of tourists - a place for your most needed respite.

Seco Island, Antique

Perhaps one of the most beautiful islands you will ever see in Antique, Seco Island is a 1.5 kilometer stretch of atoll reef surrounded by clear turquoise waters. Aptly named ‘Seco’ which means elbow in local language, it follow a small elbow shape and is declared as a Marine Protected Area.

Aside from it’s jaw-dropping beauty, visitors could take the time to swim its rich underwater marine life and chill by its long stretch of white sand beach.

Tinalisayan Island, Masbate

Islet may be a more appropriate term for this island that’s so small but full of wonders. Its beauty effortlessly demands attention as it flaunts its over the top white sand beach and shallow clear blue waters.

This well-kept secret of the province of Masbate is part of the Burias Island and is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of San Pacual.

Sibale Island, Romblon

Have you heard of this island in Concepcion, Romblon where underwater life is teeming and waters are warm? Its waters is crystal clear you can even see down to 5 meters deep from the surface. Truly a paradise of its own and Instagram worthy too.

The island houses several accommodations but we recommend you pitch your tent by the shore, especially at night, for your billion-star hotel dreams.

Maniwaya Island, Marinduque

In the town of Sta. Cruz Marinduque is a piece of paradise where only a few have wandered.

Maniwaya Island is only half an hour boat ride away from the mainland. Imagine, for merely half an hour worth of travel time, pristine white sands, clear blue waters, a relaxing sandbar, and a rock formation is waiting to be explored. All these, all to yourself.

Binurong Point, Catanduanes

The few people that has been here has long painted this place in our imagination in the likes of the hills of Batanes, New Zealand, and Ireland. With its cinematic panorama of rolling hills and people atop escarpments, it is no doubt this place will move you in awe.

Ave Maria Islet, Guimaras

Located in Lawi, Jordan, here is a must-see islet that features one of the best sea landscapes with seasoned rock formations as foreground. The islet’s charm is in its white-sand beaches and a sandbar surrounded by cerulean waters.

With nothing but a dilapidated nipa hut as a refuge, lone travellers could never go wrong with this choice of place for the serene and quiet.
