How many places in the Philippines have you visited? Surely, when you think of travel—especially in the context of summer vacation—the first destination that often comes to mind is Boracay.
Boracay is a haven of everything good about summer: the powder white sand, the calm and gentle waters, and of course, the idyllic island life. In fact, it’s essentially become the beach party capital of the country, pulling in visitors from all over the country and the world. Ever since its establishment as a summer destination several decades ago, it’s the representation many visitors to the country imagine whenever they’re asked to describe the Philippines: it’s simply that popular, and with good reason.
Since we’re on the topic of international visitors, Condé Nast Traveler, an online travel magazine, recently released an article detailing "50 Of The Best And Most Beautiful Places In The World" to discover and, of course, Boracay ranked 46th on the list.
In fact, writer Caitlin Morton, noting on Boracay’s beauty and charm, simply said, “With its gentle coastlines and transporting sunsets, it's easy to see why Boracay was voted the best island in the world by our readers.”
Though the glory and allure of Boracay and its nearby islands have diminished over the years because of overcrowding and pollution, the local government in charge of Boracay is already taking steps to preserve its beauty. These actions are meant to retain Boracay’s unique charm, and possibly, responsibly grow the number of tourists visiting the beautiful island each year.
Others which were included in the list are the Kuril Islands in the border of Russia and Japan, the Great Wall of China, and the USA’s Grand Canyon National Park.
