With the sun scorching and the tropical winds blowing, most of us have already started planning where to spend the best days of Summer 2017. Our goal: To explore the “World’s Best Island” of Palawan. But with 1,780 Islands in Palawan alone, it may sound like an arduous task to come up with a sensible list of the best ones that we can squeeze in, given the tight budget and limited vacation time. Thanks to our friends from El Nido Boutique and Art Café, we have now identified 10 BEST spots found in Bacuit Bay, home to the 45 gorgeous islands of El Nido, Palawan.

Start ticking these attractions off your bucket list as “iHAP” to Bacuit Bay!

1. Small and Big Lagoon, Miniloc Island

It may be small but it will blow one's mind away with the immense landscape of limestone cliffs, turquoise water and the lush vegetation surrounding the lagoon. Travelers just need to navigate their kayaks through a small opening then the majestic beauty of this lagoon will welcome them.

Right next door is Small Lagoon’s larger brother – The Big Lagoon. But the big brother knows how to give a grand welcome with its shallow channel smacked in the middle of 2 picturesque limestone walls. During high tide, boats can navigate thru this channel and an otherworldly landscape will surprise everyone once the lagoon is reached, something straight out of the Jurrasic Park.

Imagine beautiful white sand cove hidden by a protruding limestone formation in front of it and protected from the crashing wave of the open sea, that is what the Secret Beach is all about. Let the secret out and don’t forget to include this on your next island hopping adventure!

3. Binangculan Bay, Tapuitan Island

A bay within a bay? Yes! Binangculan Bay is found on the Island of Tapuitan, which is located in Bacuit Bay. A white sand cove is found on its shore, while a huge coral garden is situated just few meters from the beach. No wonder, it’s a favorite stop of picnic lunches during island hopping!

5. Pangulasian Island

This island is home to the longest stretch of finest white sand in the town of El Nido. A short hike to the top of the island will give you a 360 degree view of the surrounding islands and breathtaking Bacuit Bay seascape.

6. Ubugon Cove, Cadlao Island

Just when you think that you’ve seen the best lagoons when you visit Miniloc Island, on your way back to El Nido town, a startling surprise awaits you in Cadlao Island. Ubugon Cove is home to a lagoon-like body of water that is turquoise blue in color, shallow and calm. Definitely a good refuge after a long day of island hopping!

7. Tapuitan Straight

Even the passage in El Nido is so picturesque, the area is so “instagrammable”. The Tapuitan Straight is sandwiched in between Tapuitan and Matinloc Island. It is best observed from a viewpoint in Matinloc Shrine, so get your cameras ready and include this on your list!

8. Snake Island

Unlike Puerto Princesa’s Starfish Island that is filled with Starfishes, you won’t find a single snake  on Snake Island (thank God). Instead, a snake-like sandy beach rises above the water during hightide, connecting it to the nearby island. As an added bonus, a view deck is found at the top of Snake Island with the view of the entire stretch of the snake-like sandbar during low tide.

9. Entalula Island

The imposing rock formation, a long stretch of white sand beach, rivaling that of Pangulasian and the varying shades of blue of the surrounding water make this island a worthy stop in your island hopping adventure.

10. Shimizu Island

This island’s extensive coral reef and teeming marine life fronting its beach make it one of the most frequented snorkeling spots in El Nido.
