Must-Eat: Siargao Island's Adobo Burger

Siargao is a surfer’s haven.  The teardrop shaped island has been a site for national and international surfing competitions because of its barrel waves in Cloud 9 and other surf spots.

Aside from surfing, there are 9 other reasons why Siargao is a must-visit destination: from tidepools, mangove forests to delectable food.

Among its food offerings are the pan de surf and buko pie.

Now here comes adobo burger which is fast becoming a favorite among the surfers. You can choose from chicken or pork adobo as stuffing for your burger.

You start out with the simple pork adobo recipe then you fillet the meat, shape into a patty, dip in beaten egg then fry. Arrange patty on buns then layer with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese and you’ve got a western Filipino burger.

How to get there:

PAL and other major airlines fly daily to Surigao City.

Siargao Island can be reached by boat from Surigao City. Roro or M/V Fortune Angels to Dapa cost from Php200 (US$4.25) for Economy B and PhP 250 (US$5.31) for Economy A. Terminal fee is PhP 10 (US$0.21). Dapa Express also plies the route at Php250 (US$5.31) from the Surigao City Port.

Motorcycle ride from Dapa Port to General Luna is PhP 80-100.

Get your adobo burger at Ronaldo’s.
