Let’s get to know our Filipina Miss Universe and Miss World beauty queens.
Miss World is the oldest running international beauty pageant though it is just one year ahead of Miss Universe. Started in 1951, it was created by Eric Morley in United Kingdom.
Megan Young (Miss World 2013)

Birthplace: Alexandria, Virginia, USA
Hometown: Castillejos, Zambales
Megan Lynne Young is the first and as of now only Filipina who won Miss World held in 2013 at Bali, Indonesia. She is an actress, model and TV host.
Miss Universe started in 1952. It is run by the Miss Universe Organization which is held in more than 190 countries worldwide and seen by more than half a billion people. It’s headquarters is in New York City, New York.
Gloria Diaz (Miss Universe 1969)
Date of Birth: March 10, 1951
Hometown: Aringay, La Union and Baclaran, Parañaque
Gloria Maria Aspillera Diaz is only 18 years old when she won the Miss Universe in 1969. She is the first Filipina to win the crown held at Miami Beach, Florida. She is a Filipino actress, model and TV host.
Margarita Moran (Miss Universe 1973)
Date of Birth: September 15, 1953
Maria Margarita Roxas Moran-Floirendo, simply known as Margie Moran, is the second Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown in 1973. She is a Filipino peace advocate and headed several private companies in Mindanao.
Pia Wurtzbach (Miss Universe 2015)
Date of Birth: September 24, 1989
Birthplace: Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, West Germany
Hometown: Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, formerly known as Pia Romero in the Philippine entertainment industry, is the third Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown. She is a model, actress and has served as UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador for Asia & the Pacific since 2016.
With a total of 3 Miss Universe crowns for the Philippines in the years 1969, 1973 and 2015. A set of commemorative stamps were issued by the Philippine Post Office honoring the three Miss Universes of the Philippines.
