Zarah Zaragoza-Manikan, Chief Research and Development of Bono Artisanal Gelato, won the People’s Choice Award in the recent Gelato World Tour held last March 20 to 22 at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center in Singapore.
Out of other numerous entries, a panel of seasoned gelato artisans decided that Manikan’s Ube Symphony was worthy to join the top 16 flavors from the Asia-Pacfic region. Other regions part of the top 16 include New Zealand, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Manikan’s entry, the Ube Symphony, reflected the country’s adoration of sweet things, as well our innate culinary (and overall) creativity.
The annual Gelato World Tour was organized by Italy’s Carpigiani Gelato University, one of the most prestigious gelato schools in the world. The Tour aims to highlight gelato making as a form of culinary arts, and how it is shaping economies and culture around the world.
The Tour was held for the first time in Asia just this March.
