Educator, professor, conductor, creative musician, and visionary—these are just a few words that could describe Nové Deypalan, born and bred in Victorias City, Negros Occidental. He likes to maintain a profile, however, his world-class reputation undeniably has it otherwise.

Nové’s interest in music started when he was only eight years old. He used to watch his sister practicing as a member of the city's sugar mill choir and he eventually wanted to learn to play the piano himself. Coming from a poor family, Nové volunteered to water the plants of his music teacher everyday in exchange for piano lessons.

After getting his music degree from the University of the Philippines, he worked as a composer and conductor at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). He became part of the Center's famous productions like Florante at Laura and Kagat sa Mansanas. One of his professors and mentor is Maestro Ryan Cayabyab.

He migrated to the United States to continue his passion in the world of classical music. He pursued his Bachelor of Music Degree in Conducting at Chapman University and a master's degree at the University of Southern California where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He obtained his degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting at the University of South Carolina where he was also a music teacher at the same time.

"I left the Philippines because I wanted to study further classical music since our country is more focused on popular music which is also very good."

Nové trained several church choirs like that of Saint Dennis Church, which later sang for Pope John Paul II in the 90s and for Pope Benedict XVI in the Vatican City. He also directed ensembles with repeated shows at the Carnegie Hall. He conducted symphony orchestras in different countries such as The Berlin Sinfonietta in Germany, Filharmonie Bohuslav Martin? in Czech Republic, Festival Orchestra in Santa Cruz, California, Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra in Georgia, and The London Conducting Workshop Orchestra at the Royal Academy in London to name a few.

Nové’s lifetime commitment and devotion for music brought him great achievements. He has plans of staging an opera in the Philippines and is excited to work with local talents in the music industry.
