In 2015, we travelled all the way to the boundary of Bukidnon and Davao City or BuDa (Marilog District) to get to Buda Vista Vacation House and discovered an exclusive sanctum that simply spelled relaxation. This summer, we are in for a bigger area for some needed R & R.

On the road leading to Arakan Valley from Marilog District lie hills with pockets of valleys that are ideal for mountain resorts like the Buda Vista Grande. Yes… this is the larger version of the rest house, and yes, it can accommodate more people.

If we fell in love with the architecture of the single house, this time, there are ten houses (with prices ranging from Php 2,000-7,000) that let the air and the sun in through their floor to ceiling glass windows that look over the lush flower garden and the dipping pool with natural flowing water.

When we visited the resort, the water in the pool was still murky as it rained the night before. But that did not stop a couple of kids from swimming and lazing in the cool water.

As you enjoy the pool, you can see flowers bloom in different colors from a bed of green and butterflies fleet from one inflorescence to another. Birds and bees add to the melody of nature’s song.

During the early mornings and late afternoons, fog envelops the place and the cool mountain breeze ebbs and flows to cool you down.

Overlooking the whole developed area is a restaurant that serves simple filling dishes and snacks. Highly recommended is the Binagoongang pork.

Much of the 26-hectare property is still being developed with plans of putting up dormitory-type accommodation, a bigger swimming pool and a restaurant.  For inquiries and reservation, call or text 0922-643-1498/0917-836-8177.

How to get there:

Davao City is an hour and 50 minutes away from Manila and 50 minutes away from Cebu by plane.  Major airlines fly daily from these two key cities to Davao City. The Bukidnon-Davao Highway can be reached in an hour and a half by private vehicles, rented vans, and public buses from the city proper.
