Angeli began her professional theater career in 2002 when she joined the Tanghalang Pilipino Actors’ Company, resident theater company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Her film credits include Ang Huling Araw Ng Linggo (2006), Adela (2008), the Arte France telemovie, Esclaves de Mers (2009), and Pink Halo?Halo (2010).

We recently recognized her presence after the successful film “Ilo Ilo” which won the 2013 Camera d’Or best first feature film at the Cannes Film Festival. The entire cast including the director received a 15-minute standing ovation after the film’s first premiere during the Cannes Film Festival.

The film “Ilo Ilo” is about the inseparable bond between a 10-year old Singaporean boy and his nanny (Bayani) while the boy’s parents struggle to weather the 1997 Asian financial crisis. It is about love, humor and heartbreak. It also depicts the class and racial tensions in the household.

The calligraphy (?????) on the poster translates to “Mom and Dad are Not Home” in Chinese describes the predicament of many Asian children who are placed in the care of nannies while their parents work to maintain a double-income lifestyle.

She has also received the following awards and citations: (please note that the list is not complete)
