One of the latest Filipino restaurants featured in an American tv show is The Park’s Finest, a Fil-am owned restaurant that specializes in Filipino cuisine fusion with backyard-style barbecue.

Guy Fierri took his Food Network hit show “Diners, Drive Ins and Dives” to the Filipino restaurant and brought with him A-list comedians Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James and David Spade. Their favorite among the Filipino food served? The Cornbread Bibingka, the creation of one of the owners as she was trying to improve the All American cornbread, which made A-list comedian Chris Rock to say that “it’s the best cornbread he’s ever had.

"Everybody complained cornbread is so dry, but fine I'll make it anyways, and I like making bibingkas for Christmas so my husband was like that'd be great if you can put it together, the cornbread and bibingka," said Ann Pajimula.

The Filipino –American owners grew up together in Los Angeles and they consider putting up the restaurant as a dream come true. They opened their restaurant at the border of Historic Filipino town and downtown Los Angeles where they hope to be a symbol that the community can produce positive role models.

Now, the owners are looking into expanding their business and opening in other locations where they can bring their unique style of Filipino backyard cooking.

"For us to be able to able to bring Filipino barbecue, the whole line, the seasoning and to mix it with the American touch, it's overwhelming right now," said co-owner, Oscar Bautista.

More than the food, these Filipino-American entrepreneurs are truly Pinoy Pride!
