Renzelle Ann Palma | Jul 11, 2013
Only 25 people in the world have achieved this recognition and Paeng is the only Asian to do so.
With his dedication to bowling, Paeng has been traveling, discovering new techniques and studying the evolution of the sport. "There are requirements that you have to submit... nagdasal ako, nastress ako, lahat 'yan. Parang naging estudyante ako ulit para maging gold level coach, equivalent iyon ng doctorate degree sa pagtuturo ng sports," he said.
His long list of achievements include 6 world cup titles, recipient of the IOC President’s trophy, FIQ (Federation Internationale des Quilleurs) Athlete of the Millennium, first international inductee to the Bowling Hall of Fame, Guinness record for most number of tournaments won at 124, Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Athlete of the Century, the youngest Philippine Open winner at 17 and the oldest winning it at the age of 54 two years ago.
With all these achievements under his belt, Paeng is the most recognized and accomplished name in bowling. He believes that Filipinos have so much potential in this kind of sport and wishes that more talents will be discovered so that a Filipino will follow in his footsteps.
