The Scene Stealer

Being able to look at a scene and steal its essence through a photo or painting is a gift. It is one quality of Jojie Alcantara who steals scenes and makes us feel how it is to be in that place, celebration, mood and even taste the food.

Jojie Alcantara is as multi-talented as the facets she captures on photos, caricature, canvass and words. She is a blogger, photographer, columnist, host, writer, painter, journalist and very proud Dabawenya- a “Jill-of-all-trades”.

Her landscapes, seascapes, festival photos, portraits of the people of Mindanao show her deep love and pride for her homeland.

Jojie is generous with her talent as she is with her love of Mindanao. She is always willing to mentor budding photographers through her photography workshops. Her teaching style is hands-on and would readily go with you on a photo walk. Later on, she will critique your shots in such a way that you end up knowing the positive points of your work, how to improve it and learn to capture, capture, capture!

Jojie says that whether you use a point and shoot camera or a DSLR, it always boils down to seeing the beauty of the scene and stealing it.
