This Library Project of a Young Man in Davao City Will Surely Make Your Day!

In a time when technology almost dominates our lives, reading has been almost forgotten in the interests of kids. Instead of books and other reading materials, parents resort to giving gadgets to their kids to help them behave or pass their time quietly.

For 15-year-old Enzo Puentespina, however, reading is not just an art but an exercise for the intellect. This is his main motivation for building a 24/7 mini-library in front of their house in Bolcan Street, Agdao, Davao City.

“Lib of Positivity” is a community library that has books on a variety of subject matters: English, Math, Science, Physical Education, and Christian Living, among others. “Nag-isip kami na gamitin ito para ma-help ang community so we (with my parents) ended up thinking of a project so that we can help the community. I didn’t expect this thing to grow fast," Enzo said. (I’ve always wanted to help the community so, with the support of my parents, we’re able to do this library so that we can help the community.)”

The act of kindness inspired many Dabawenyos, many are now donating different kinds of books. Residents can also take home the books on the condition of returning it after use. May this project encourage more people, especially kids, to love and value reading books!
