During COVID-19, Filipino Photographers Unite in Support of Fellow Visual Artists!

As the enhanced community quarantine continues in the season of COVID-19, many have been at a pause from earning and practicing their professions as normal routines have changed. These professionals include artists who perform and are part of creative productions, shows, events, shoots, and the likes, such as photographers.
Filipino photographers have always had an edge in their art, able to express ideas and themes through visual means and storytelling. As their usual day-to-day jobs in the outside world are on break while in quarantine, or enhanced as they fearlessly step outside to document the ongoing pandemic, they’ve found a way to continue sharing their art through Shelter Fund, an initiative by photographers, for the photographers.
“Many of us have lent our images to various fund-raising activities to help combat this pandemic. Some even continue to work on the front lines, documenting it as it happens. But with the further extension of the quarantine and the uncertainty it brings, we now also have to look inward, towards our own.”
Through the help of Silver, the digital printing arm of Katipunan-based photography studio Shutterspace Studios, Shelter Fund serves as an online platform where Filipino photographers have come together on to sell their shots in A5, A4, A3, and A2 sized photo prints, bordered and signed by the artists.
The project manifesto states: “Through your purchase of our prints, you help keep us safe in our homes, able to continue and contribute, and more importantly, all of us have committed to contributing part of our individual sales to a communal fund, making sure everyone is benefitted by your purchase.”
Photographs available here are by known artists in the country, reaching over 100 photographers contributing. These include BJ Pascual, Shaira Luna, Neil Daza, Mark Nicdao, Xander Angeles, and many more.
As these visual artists continue telling stories through their photographs on the platform, they support each other as well by sharing the work of their fellow photographers. To support their cause, browse through their photographs on sale at their Instagram and Facebook page.
