An LGBTQIA+ group in the Municipality of Columbio in Sultan Kudarat brought funny confusion to the online world on whether they are on an actual beauty pageant or just merely helping in the repacking with an extra effort to dress up.
This is after photos and live videos circulated online of relief volunteers doing ramp in casual dress and heels while lifting not just one but two heavy sacks of rice. Netizens were quick to comment on their efforts not just in helping but also in making everyone happy during these trying times.
Britney Sujede, one of the members of the group, shared all they wanted to do was to inject a spirit of fun while they help repack relief goods to be distributed to the residents in the poblacion area. Their goal was to put smiles on the faces of everyone especially those who also volunteered in the repacking, “Gusto naming tumatak sa isipan nila na hindi lang kami basta bakla lang at kami ay bakla na may maitutulong sa lipunan (We want to instill in everyone’s minds that we are not just gay, but, we are gays who can contribute help to the society).”
The LGBT group is also part of the Pag-asa Youth if the Philippines Columbio Chapter who always does volunteer works in the municipality. Truly, beauty is life but to help is lifer! Happy Pride!
