With many negativities that the world is facing right now, Pinoys always find time to be optimistic despite all that is happening. With such a heavy burden on their shoulders, medical frontliners are still doing the best to radiate positive energy in the hospital for their patients.

Designer and nurse Adrian Pe previously made a Teletubbies-inspired PPE for the health workers of Iloilo City. It was an idea that went viral on social media not only in the Philippines but all over Asia. This idea was originally just for the medical staff of The Medical City but with the help of the donors, they were able to share the design with other hospitals, helping spread the positive energy that these colorful PPEs provide.

Due to the request of many, Pe decided to make other themed PPEs that are somehow relevant to today. For instance, the Star Wars set was inspired by the famous line “May the Force be with you,” an earnest wish for the frontliners battling COVID-19. “It’s empowering and strong,” says Adrian. Another design takes its cues from the classic superhero characters Power Rangers. Those who grew up watching this show were thrilled to see their favorite characters come to life as medical workers battling the coronavirus. Using their medical stuff as props, they posed as if they're ready for the war. “I am happy when I hear our recipients saying 'Gusto ko maging si Kimberly! (Pink Ranger)',”  says Pe.

With the help of an increasing number of volunteers, making the themed PPEs became easier. More groups are messaging Pe to offer assistance in creating more of these whimsical PPEs.  One school offered to cut patterns for faster production. The Medical City Iloilo designated one area in the hospital as a production room with OR, DR and NICU complex personnel collaborating to create more of the suits. As Adrian aims to produce other themed PPEs that bring positivity despite these challenging times to the world, it is becoming clearer that positivity can pave the way for a better tomorrow. #WeHealAsOne
