Jumping & Diving at Salagdoong Beach: The Mystical Siquijor Island

White sand beaches, clear waters, rock formations and two diving boards approached us as we got to Salagdoong Beach in Siquijor island which can be reached by a tricycle or renting a habal – habal from the port. Excitement and anxiety hit me when I saw the diving boards that are about 30 feet and 20 feet respectively, above the sea. Our timing was ideal since the sun’s golden rays glittered the sea and the view on top was extraordinary.
Before jumping off the board, my friends and I made sure that the water was deep enough and was clear of any obstructions that will make our leap of faith safe and to make sure that we will end up alive. Diving before jumping was the decision. The sight underwater was clean and clear. There were no signs of trash and only a few corals and fishes were visible. It’s purely white sand and turquoise blue waters.
Deciding to jump off the board took a while. It was a crucial decision since it was really that high. Despite the processing stage, without any hesitations I just jump off in a blink of an eye and never jumped again. The length of the jump made it more intense and the impact of my body in the water caused me bruises and a sore butt. Nevertheless, that one-time big time spontaneous moment made my heart pump and at the same time very ecstatic.
