In Capiz, Two River Tours, Thousands of Trees, Tons of Seafood, and More!

Roxas City, the capital of Capiz, is known as the seafood capital of the Philippines. The best way to enjoy the freshest catch is through river tour experiences!
Palina Greenbelt Ecopark River Tour
After about a thirty-minute ride towards the edge of another side of Roxas City, enjoy a sumptuous lunch of grilled pusit, steamed shrimp, and oyster in a gazebo perched on a bamboo raft pulled through the river by a motorized banca.
The hour-long cruise will take you through lines of century-old mangrove trees, a smattering of small islands, and boats of fishermen making their way to and from the open sea. As the raft gently glides through the river, it is good to sit still and enjoy the lush greenery and the cool breeze as the soft hum of the motorboat lulls you to sleep.
This river experience is run by the Palina River Development Association who is composed of men and women who used to own or operate illegal fishing structures that caused siltation on the riverbed, disrupted the river’s natural currents, and polluted the waters. Their efforts have since restored the ecosystem of the dying river, giving a more sustainable form of livelihood to the community.
Cadimahan River Tour
Unlike the Palina experience, the Cadimahan River Tour is made up of stationary bamboo huts, with oysters and green shell farms thriving underneath the structures. This is the same produce served to visitors who come to enjoy fresh seafood in a relaxing ambiance.
This part of the river used to be crowded with illegal fishing structures causing siltation and pollution. Now, these have been replaced with floating restaurants run by the former owners and operators of those illegal structures.
These are just a couple of the wonders that Capiz has to offer. For more adventures, check out the Capiz episode of Unlisted for more adventures hidden in the province!
