In Zamboanga Sibugay, One Can Fly On Two Wheels!

More than two hundred motocross enthusiasts from different teams all over the country went to compete for the 4th Governor Wilter Yap Palma Motocross Showdown in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Racers from Manila, Davao, Ilo-ilo, General Santos City, Palawan and other major cities joined one of the highlights of the 16th Sibugay Festival.

The two-day motocross competition is being held at a new race track near the provincial capital made by the provincial government especially for the event. More than ten trucks surround the racetrack which served as the seats for the spectators, giving it that legit backyard racetrack vibes. The show is highly anticipated by the crowd who traveled all the way from the 16 municipalities of the province, not minding the dust from the race track.

For a province in the far south of the Philippines, an event like this is an amazing spectacle for the crowd. Hundreds gather to see the riders show off their skills and fly through the obstacles as their mufflers reverberate like thunder.

Dancers from Dipolog City brought entertainment during the breaks. The hosts of the event are famous radio personalities from Davao City who give the show a touch of laughter.  A special showdown from UA Mindanao - Motocross Performers who were made popular by the ABS-CBN talent show Pilipinas Got Talent Finalist is one of the most awaited part of the event.

Mang Ernesto traveled from the nearby municipality just to witness the motocross showdown.

“Nagbus pa po ako papunta dito kasi minsanan lang talaga ang ganitong event sa probinsya. Dati sa TV ko lang ito nakikita, ngayon ay pwede na ako makipagselfie sa kanila,” he said.

The riders may only have a short stay in Zamboanga Sibugay but the crowd will surely keep on talking of this action-packed spectacle.
