Mt. Salumayagon Escapade: Cagayan De Oro's Budget-Friendly Mountain!

Mt. Salumayagon is a hiking destination close to Cagayan de Oro. The trail is easy and beginner-friendly, and the trek usually takes three hours depending on a group's pace. However in the video, we incorporated a short trail run to amp up  our adventure that is why we arrived at the camp site in two hours.

Hiking up Mt Salumayagon does not require climb permit. There is no miscellaneous fees as well. Simply show up for courtesy at the municipal hall so that the staff can inform the barangay captain about your coming or you may also go directly to Barangay Tula; just inform the locals about your purpose and they will direct you as to where to sign up for records purposes. All you can spend here is the fare. That is, if you don't stay overnight as it requires local guide and extra fee. Hence, this #ExploreMisOr adventure will only cost you P310.00.

How to get there

- From Bulua Terminal, take a bus bound to Iligan or any routes that will pass by CDO-Iligan highway. Riding an air-conditioned bus is not necessary since Alubijid municipality is just 30 minutes away from Cagayan de Oro. Tell the conductor to drop you off at Laguindingan bus stop. Farre - P35.00

- Once at Laguindingan bus stop, cross the roads using the overpass. Walk few meters where motorcycles or habal-habal are alleyed, then ask the drivers to take you Barangay Tula. Travel tine is one hour. Fare - P70.00.

Take note that the budget stated herein is an actual and cheapest fare coming from Cagayan de Oro. If you prefer van rides, fare to and fro CDO is P50.00. Also know that Mt Salumayagon is politically located in the municiplaity of Alubijid but the best entry point going to the barangay is from Laguindingan bus stop. So don't be confused.

If you want to spend your weekends away from the city and is on a tight budget, go ahead! Trek your P310.00 up Mt Salumayagon. Enjoy!
