Ida Damo | Jul 04, 2016

Halal is an Arabic word meaning permitted or lawful. Halal is not only seen in the way food is prepared and cooked and what foods are allowed to be eaten, but in products and services as well.
At the opening of the Halal Tourism Expo 2016 participated in by the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia, business opportunities for Filipinos were also discussed for the halal-conscious traveler.
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos reports the population of Muslims at 11% of the total Filipino population in 2012.
In General Santos City, Tambilawan Kamayan Restaurant is the one and only halal-certified restaurant in the city. It follows strict rules from marketing to transportation, to handling and cooking the food it serves to its clients.
