Manila, underneath its grime and clutter, is a city steeped in rich history, owing to its years of providing haven for people of all races, creeds, and walks of life. With so much culture concentrated into one small area, it’s easy to see why, over the years, Manila has become so cluttered and chaotic. However, recent efforts by both private and public organizations have sought to change that, with one effort in particular showing the best parts of Manila in a romantic setting.

Manila CAN be beautiful!

An upcoming movie starring Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga titled “Last Night” is set in the beautiful heart of the city. Their story tells of two uneasy lovers, both of whom have their own lives to worry about, crossing each other’s paths for one night in none other than the glorious city of Manila.

The trailer showcases some iconic places in the city, such as the LRT station for Doroteo Jose, RIzal Park Hotel near Manila Bay, and of course, the iconic bridge near Escolta, aptly referred to as the Escolta Bridge.

Asked by interviewers as to why the story took place in Manila, Bela Padilla—who wrote the story from scratch—simply said, "Why not show the beauty of Manila? Bakit pa tayo lumalayo masyado e ang ganda ng mga lugar dito?" Indeed, the Philippines is wonderful, and we can't agree more.
