Created in 2014, the Cagayan de Oro Carnival Street Dance Competition is one of the core activities of the Higalaay Festival, an iconic fiesta celebration of Cagayan de Oro City held in honor of St Augustine, the city's patron saint. The street dance competition is open to all barangays and schools of Cagayan de Oro City and nearby municipalities, symbolizing the celebration of friendship as the city is known as the "City of Golden Friendship" or "Higalaay" in Bisaya.  In its six years of existence, the dance competition has evolved to be bigger and better with 13 participating contingents. Expect upbeat, lively music, exhilarating dance movements, and vibrant, colorful costumes!
