Marinduque Celebrates Their Centennial Milestone!

For its hundredth year, Marinduque celebrates its centennial milestone with numerous festivities in this island province, particularly in its capital municipality Boac. Various activities and events were held throughout the week-long celebration that lasted from 16 February until 22 February 2020. Events that showcased the skill and passion of Marinduqueños include a gallery exhibit featuring the work of local artists at Casa Real, an art workshop with the father of the Philippine Art Workshop, Maestro Fernando Sena, and the unveiling of the Centennial Monument.

More celebratory events were commemorated to honor the colorful tradition of this province, such as their welcome tradition of song and dance for visitors called Putong, the search for Miss Marinduque 2020: Centennial Queen, the Centennial Parade of Floats, and of course, their Parade of Morions from all six Marinduque municipalities, a tradition depicting the crucifixion of Jesus Christ called Moryonan.Marinduque is definitely the place to be when the city life gets to you. Here, a preserved culture of peacefulness and fresh air awaits you, it’s a must-visit for sure!
