Truly Naimas: Gretchen Ho Discovers The Delicious Flavors Of Provincial Home-Cooked Meals

Fresh from her international travels, Gretchen Ho of Umagang Kay Ganda wasn’t shy about voicing how she had missed Filipino food: she had missed the rice, the ulam, and the company of friends and family. Thankfully for her, she was treated to a wonderful breakfast at UKG’s latest episode.

Delicious Ilokano fare!

Granted, Gretchen had done this for work, but she was nonetheless pleased that her return was immediately welcomed with delicious food from a province she had previously known very little about. She was given the dishes that are popularly from the north such as bagnet and pigar pigar, as well as some native dishes often unknown to most, like gisaeng balot and sinampalukang kambing. Gretchen was even shown how to create a contemporary twist on a provincial classic: Naimas’ own (Bicol-inspired) Vigan Express.

Learn more about Gretchen Ho’s gastronimical adventure as she tries various Filipino cuisines on the episode of Umagang Kay Ganda below:
