Fruits and vegetables are important components of a healthy diet and keeping our immune system strong. Citrus fruits should be our best friends since they are rich in Vitamin C, a component that is extremely important to strengthen immunity. Leafy vegetables are also great sources of vitamins, minerals, and calcium.

While some are making an extra effort to fall in line at the groceries, the sight of rich produce of South Cotabato greets everyone along National Highway in Tupi, South Cotabato. It is a great place to find a wide array of fruits and vegetables that are the ultimate when it comes to freshness. From the small to the large and the familiar to the exotic, natural, healthy products that are world-class in quality can be found here: pineapples, lanzones, different varieties of banana, passion fruit, guava, rambutan, avocado, langka (jack fruit), papaya, mango, watermelon, and durian.

According to Hadji Balajadia, a proud local, the sight of the road-long market will remind us to patronize the produce of local farmers sold in tiangges and humble shops. The stalls are less crowded, the fruits and vegetables are fresh and cheap, and above all, the encounter with local tienderas and tienderos is personal and friendly.
