Cook Ginataang Puso ng Saging in 5 Easy Steps

Davao del Norte is the biggest producer of bananas in the country.  Banana blossoms or puso ng saging is readily available in the market and is used in cooking other Pinoy dishes.

In preparing ginataang puso ng saging, you need the following ingredients: 

1 medium sized banana blossom

5 tablespoons vinegar

3 tablespoons coconut milk

3 cloves garlic

½ piece onion bulb

Shelled or Unshelled shrimps

Salt and pepper to taste



  1. Wash the banana blossom, cut the tough portions, and slice into medium size pieces then boil until tender with a little salt.
  2. Drain and slice into small pieces.
  3. Saute garlic and onion.  Add the vinegar and coconut milk.  Let simmer then add the banana blossom.
  4. Let simmer then add the unshelled shrimps until cooked.
  5. Serve hot.

Serves 4
