While community quarantine has us cooped up in our households, preparing healthy meals can be a bit of a challenge. Here is an Ilonggo dish to prepare for the family! Visayas is known for Laswa, a delicious vegetable recipe that has a distinct flavor. It is a healthy, inexpensive, and easy to prepare lutong-bahay that is good for all ages!

Laswa is a vegetable stew of ingredients commonly found in rural family farms. If you need to buy the ingredients, it is not expensive because the vegetables included in the recipe are affordable: squash, string beans, papaya, okra, alugbati, tagabang (saluyot), takway, and malunggay. Other kinds can also be added, depending on your preferences. For preparing this dish, you don’t need to have expert cooking skills. It is simply a matter of boiling all the vegetables, season with salt and tada! You’re done! Some prepare laswa with fish, shrimp, or crabs to add flavor. It is best served while hot and paired with grilled or fried fish.
