Metro Manila,

When one thinks of life in the busy streets of Metro Manila, I bet no one would dare say that it’s rather a place of peace and serenity. Unless you’re the master of zen or an ultimate productivity machine, I reckon, just like most of us, you feel stressed too. The accumulation of deadlines, exams, papers, and the need to impress your boss, surely, have pushed you against the wall. And what’s left to do is to slowly pull the plugs, perhaps with a cup of coffee with a close friend or a delectable dinner with your significant one.

We find a place of retreat, right along the busy streets of Quezon City. Along Mother Ignacia Avenue where a number of people flock together to enjoy a wide-range of restaurant choices, a cafe and juice bar perfectly camouflages itself inside a garden center. You could only imagine how, at the first look at its exterior, one could almost instantaneously feel more calm especially with a delightful sight of fresh greens. Look!

Hillside Cafe & Juice Bar is located at the Cedar Hills in Mother Ignacia Ave., Quezon City. One could easily spot this place as long as you look out for those lush greens. This year, Hillside introduces the newest off of their menu by Chef Niño Laus. Staying true to their advocacy of promoting healthy-eats through locally sourced all-natural and organic ingredients, PJ Lanot and his wife, Alessa Lanot, greeted Team Choose Philippines with a scrumptious feast. These includes…

The 3-piece Seafood Kabab with squid, shrimp, and salmon (Php395)
Our personal favorite, this seafood treat gives off an aroma that makes it irresistible. With the unforgettable and one of a kind cauliflower rice, we give this dish a two thumbs-up. Yummy!
Braised Pork Belly (Php395)
A combo of brown rice risotto with tender pork, those who cannot say no to the filipino staple, rice, will find this dish a joy.
Lamb Hash Taro Chips (Php345)
A healthy twist on an all-time favorite, Nachos, these chips are made out of taro with lamb’s meat for toppings.

Squid Ink Seafood Pasta (Php265)
Surprisingly creamy once inside the mouth, this unique rendition of a seafood pasta allures the tastebuds for more.

For dessert, we had premium vegan ice cream. This is a win-win for those who are lactose intolerant and are allergic to dairies.

I, personally, love Hillside Cafe's take on presenting food as a way to heal one's mind and body; that we don't have to eat less, we just have to eat right. The view inside the cafe invites its visitors to kick back and relax. As PJ Lanot, one of the owners, put it, it serves as hide-out for people who wants a quick break from all the craze created by the urban life. Their delectable, organic, and all-natural dishes exude positive energies that will slowly seep into your veins. They prove that eating healthy doesn't have to bland and boring.

Finally, to cap off the sumptuous treat, we were served with their coldpressed juices which is available for sets and are perfect for those who are planning a day or two of detoxifying.

Whatever diet you are committed to, Hillside Cafe’s newest menu will surely satisfy your cravings for something so luscious but not sinful.
