Bob’s has been a go-to place for generations of families living in Bacolod City for over 50 years who would like to eat out or celebrate a special occasion.
It’s very first restaurant is located at B.S. Aquino Drive, North Drive (just right in front of Riverside Hospital), Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. The main branch is open daily from 7:00am until 10:30pm.
Bob’s started as a drive-in restaurant and it just turned 53 years on June 6, 2018.
During its first day, it served steak with soup, salad, rice and dessert for only Php10.00 and the waiters served them on trays to motorists.
Classic favorites and bestsellers are:
The fruit punch is a refreshing drink that is made of watermelon, pineapple, coconut and ubod bits.
The sate babe is made of pork barbecue smothered with Bob’s signature peanut butter sauce, sate rice and atchara.
They also have freshly baked breads and cakes daily.
Did you know that the drive-in was the first of its kind in the province?
The owners, Dr. Homero Sicangco and wife Conchita, opened the drive-in Bacolod in 1965. The concept was inspired by Bob’s Big Boy which is their favorite hamburger joint during the time when Homero had specialized as a doctor in the U.S.
With a capital of Php24,000 which they loaned from a relative, they started the drive-in with only 6 employees. They ran the restaurant with 2 cooks and 4 servers which were also their household helpers and children’s nannies. Because of it’s success, they were able to repay the loan in 6 months.
Up to now, in order to check that everything is in place they make to eat at the restaurant daily. The prices may have changed but the quality of their food is still the same.
Through the years, it opened several branches. From Bob’s Restaurant and Pastry Shop, you’ll find several Cafe Bob’s branches and Cafe Bob’s Deli Shop which is run by the owners eldest child.
