Victorias City: Kalamayan and Christmas Festival 2018

Victorias City in the province of Negros Occidental is celebrating its 5th Kalamayan and Christmas Festival set on December 15-25, 2018.
From the root wood “kalamay” which is the local term for “sugar.” Kalamayan Festival started in 2014. The 10-day celebration is filled with food fares, Christmas and nightly activities, showcase of talents like dance and drum-beating competitions and a lot more.
When we say sugar in Negros Occidental, the City of Victorias always come to mind.
Victorias City is known as the “Sugar Capital” of Negros Occidental. One of the earliest sugar mills in the country is found in this city, the Victorias Milling Company or also known as VMC.
TRIVIA: Do you know Romeo Pastrana? He is a Filipino midget actor and comedian born in Victorias City. He is famously known in Philippine television with his screen name, Dagul!

How to Get There
From Manila, you can fly to Bacolod (Php3500++, round trip, 45 minutes). From Bacolod-Silay Airport, you can take a shuttle, or a cab and ask to be dropped off at the nearest bus station (North Bus Terminal) plying to Victorias City, Negros Occidental. Victorias is only about 45-minute drive from Negros Occidental’s capital, Bacolod City. Bus trips start at 5:00am until 9:00pm.
