A 32-feet statue of Jesus Christ welcomes devotees to the doors of Monasterio de Tarlac in Barangay Lubigan, San Jose City. With arms outstretched, the statue towers over the verdant hills of Tarlac province.

The monastery also houses a relic of the cross accepted by the Roman Catholic Church as the one where Christ died. It was brought in on January 30, 2007 and is placed in a box under the altar table.

How To Get There

  • From Manila, take the North Luzon Expressway, exit Sta. Ines Toll Plaza in Mabalacat, Pampanga. Proceed towards north to Tarlac City. Upon reaching Brgy. San Sebastian (Hon Kee Tea House on your right or Vilmar Restaurant on your left), take a left turn to the bypass road (Tarlac - Pangasinan) towards the town of Camiling. Follow the 36-km backcountry but well-paved road to Brgy. Lubigan in San Jose, Tarlac (turns are well signposted).
  • Travel time takes 2-3 hours if via TPLEX.
  • The monastery is located at the heart of the 278-ha Tarlac Ecotourism Park in Brgy. Lubigan, San Jose, Tarlac.
