10 Mindanao Beaches to Take You to Cloud 9
Ida Damo | May 30, 2014
Mindanao’s varied coastlines allow for beaches that are unique and scenic. Some have become popular and some remain to be discovered.
1. Isla Reta, Talicud Island, Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte
Isla Reta is located an hour away by boat from Davao City's Sta. Ana Pier. This beach heaven has been on the radar of tourists who want serenity, as well as simple and laid-back accommodations.
2. The beaches of Gumasa, Glan, Sarangani
Gumasa’s beach cove pulses to the beat during the Sarangani Bay Festival in May. The rest of the year (except for weekends) is quiet and blissful. Its bluewater is warm, clean, and clear.

3. Dahican, Mati, Davao Oriental
This 7-kilometer-long stretch of white sand beach is a beach lover’s dream, a skimboarding capital, and a surfing destination. Yet it also serves as a sanctuary for dolphins, whales, turtles, and dugongs.
4. Sta. Cruz Island, Zamboanga
Its best feature is its pink colored sand, but there’s more to Sta. Cruz Island.

5. Dakak, Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte
Nestled on a cove that’s blessed with blue calm waters and soft white sands, Dakak’s Beach is pure bliss.
6 and 7. Naked Islands of Siargao and Britannia Group of Islands in Surigao del Sur
These islands are called naked because of the lack of vegetation. Its just sun, sand, sea, and sky.

8. Sultan Kudarat’s Balot Island
This secret jewel of Sultan Kudarat is often mistaken for Balut Island of Davao Occidental (the newest province of the Philippines). Its beaches are pristine, and yes, serene.
