This February, It's One Big Celebration at the Philippines' Surfing Birthplace
Choose Philippines | Jan 28, 2015
The coastal province in east-central Luzon, Aurora, will celebrate its 36th Foundation Anniversary on February 2015. February is also the birth month of Aurora Aragón-Quezón (Feb. 19, 1888 - April 28, 1949), for which the province was named after.
To kick off the festivities, the Aurora Surfrider Association, Inc. (ASRAI) will hold the 9th Aurora Surfing Challenge on February 5-8, 2015 at Sabang Beach and Cemento Reef.
The four-day event will showcase Baler as one of the premier surfing destinations in the country while promoting camaraderie among local and international surfers. Groups of skim boarders, long boarders, and skate boarders will also conduct demonstrations, competitions and exhibit their unique talents.
The entertaining extravaganza combines world-class surfing competition and beach activities with food, drink, and music — perfect for boardriders and fans of all ages.
Most of all, the event aims to raise awareness on protecting the environment and helping minimize the impact of climate change.
