Explore Bicol and Palawan Right from Your TV Screen

In just the past year, four primetime dramas have brought the beauty of various Philippine destinations right on our TV screen. Indeed, television is every viewer’s small window to the rest of the world and teleseryes are no different.

We have all enjoyed the beauty of San Vicente, Palawan through the eyes of Ningning and the surfing destination and hidden coves of Zambales through the love story of Yna and Angelo (Pangako Sa ‘Yo). Side by side the amazing views of San Francisco in “On the Wings of Love” are the historic sites of Manila we often ignore and the heritage sites of Ilocos. In the start of February, we have also been reintroduced to the beauty of this country we call home through the journey towards self-discover of Serena Marchesa of “Dolce Amore.”

This coming Monday, two new teleseryes will be using two of the best Philippine destinations as their respective sets.

The “Story of Us,” topbilled by Xian Lim and Kim Chiu, is set in Palawan. Incidentally, the leading man will be playing the role of a fisherman and a tour guide in one of the province’ municipalities, El Nido.

El Nido is located in the northernmost tip of mainland Palawan, specifically Bacuit Bay. It is composed of 45 islands and islets, each with unique geological formations, which makes the destination popular among beach lovers, scuba divers, and trekkers. The whole area is riddled with limestone cliffs, sinkholes, lagoons, white sand beaches, prehistoric caves, and waterfalls. It does not come anymore as a surprise that Palawan has been regarded as one of the best (if not the best) island in the whole world. US-based luxury and lifestyle travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler already said so!

The other seaboard of the Philippines is the setting of “We Will Survive.” The feel-good series topbilled by Pokwang and Melai Cantiveros will highlight the beauty of Legazpi City, Albay, which is popular for the Philippines’ perfect cone-shaped volcano, the Mt. Mayon. Melai will also be portraying the role of a tour guide so viewers will definitely get a chance to tour the province as well while in the comforts of their homes.

Legazpi is the capital of the province of Albay. It is also the largest city and center of commerce in the Bicol Region. Dubbed as the “Queen City of Southern Luzon,” Legazpi has a flourish tourism industry especially since it is located on the southern foothills of the scenic Mayon. Its other natural attractions are the Ligñon Hill, Kapuntukan Hill, Karangahan Falls, and Legazpi Dive Sites. It also has a long coastline along the Albay Gulf with black sand beaches ideal for skimboarding.
