Amazing Time-lapse Video of Siargao's Night Sky

Siargao, Surigao Del Norte’s island paradise, is usually brimming with activity during daytime. It’s the surfing capital of the Philippines, after all, so all the fun and action usually goes down while the sun is up.

The keyword here is “usually,” because in the video, the magic transpired during nighttime. Designer and photographer Martien Janssen managed to capture the regal night sky of General Luna, Siargao, and we’re fortunate to be able to bask in its grandeur, even just through film.

The stunning time-lapse footage was shot during the new moon, when the blanket of stars across the galaxy can be seen clearly and appreciated in all its splendor. The Dutch photographer, who’s in the midst of his journey around the globe, was fortunate to be in the right place and the right time. The video is a reminder of how just vast and beautiful our universe is. And kind of how we’re just ants in it.
