Choose Philippines | Feb 26, 2018
Ah, Dumaguete, the City of Gentle People! But while the city is home to these warm, welcoming, Dumagueteños, it also holds exciting activities for tourists. Unbeknownst to many, the whole island is the perfect spot to explore everything Negros Oriental has to offer!
If you’re planning to go to Dumaguete anytime soon, we’ve prepared a list for you (an itinerary if you will!) of activities that you can do from day to night—for a non-stop adventure!
MORNING - Discover the pristine waters of Apo Island
Recognized as one of the best diving destinations in the world, Apo Island holds several diving spots for both foreign and local tourists. However, what really sets this island apart is its marine sanctuaries. Home to pawikans, there’s a whole lot of turtle species wandering around its waters. You can even swim or snorkel with them to get up close and personal! Just remember, though, not to feed or touch them. The locals give it all they’ve got to protect these sea turtles, so it’s best to help them preserve the marine life at all cost.
AFTER LUNCH - Explore the halls of Silliman University
Known for being the biggest campus in Dumaguete, Silliman University boasts of a 62-hectare school ground! Surrounded by hundreds of acacia trees, it’s the perfect spot to quiet your mind and unleash your creativity. Oh, and don’t forget to drop by the anthropology museum! They have a collection of rare artifacts that will surely color you curious.
EVENING – Go on a food trip at Rizal Boulevard
Are you a sucker for Japanese food? Good, because if you’re in Dumaguete, you’re in for a real tempura treat! Rizal Boulevard is the ultimate go-to place for these deep-fried ebi goodness… at an unbelievably affordable price. Get this: 5 pieces of tempura for only P20! And for dessert? Look for those stalls that sell those famous silvanas. Trust us: they are a definite must-try!
There’s still a lot of places to see in this university town, and if you want to know more, you can watch the upcoming episode of Lakwatsero Vlogs, every Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, at 6-7PM on ABS-CBN News’ Facebook and YouTube pages. Catch the Lakwatsero himself, Robi Domingo, as he explores Dumaguete—capturing his adventures with his trusty travel buddy, OPPO F5! Thanks to its 20MP selfie camera, from day to night, he’ll be capturing those memorable moments in Dumaguete in a snap (pun intended)!
If you’re heading to Negros Oriental, don’t forget to bring an OPPO F5, so you can capture the real beauty of Dumaguete, and #CaptureTheRealYou. Available at all OPPO stores nationwide!
