Galunggong Fiesta!

At the Galunggong Fiesta, organized by Kayak Philippines last June 2 at the Anvaya Cove in Morong, Bataan, different dishes all made with galunggong were enjoyed by the Philippine Kayak Series participants.

We commonly prepare galunggong in our households by pan frying, but did you know that there are so many ways to cook this delicious fish? Some of these dishes are Ginataang galunggong or Galunggong Papillote, Galunggong sa Alagaw, Kalderetang Galunggong, Sweet and Sour Galunggong Meatballs, Galunngong Fillet, Lumpia, Dynamite and the delicious Kilawin.

Our favorite? Galunggong sa Alagaw is cooked with gata (coconut milk) and alagaw leaves. Not only is it delicious and cooked to our liking (more sili please!) but alagaw is well known for its health benefits.

All dishes were prepared by the fishermen’s housewives from Brgy. Sabang, Morong, Bataan. They cooked all morning to prepare our delicious Galunggong feast at the 2013 Philippine Kayak Event. Galunggong is the main source of income for most of these Sabang families.
