The province of Aurora is known as one of Luzon's prime surfing spots. However, not everyone knows that Aurora has a majestic landscape that will simply take anyone's breath away.

Located on the East coast of Luzon roughly five hours away from Manila, Dingalan is the southernmost municipality of the province of Aurora. Dingalan started out as a barrio and was officially declared as a municipality of Aurora in 1962. Known as the Batanes of the East, Dingalan boasts of resplendent mountain peaks, pristine waters, and beautiful rock formations.

To go to Dingalan, take a bus from Manila going to Cabanatuan. Genesis Transport and Five Star Bus offers daily trips. Travel time takes about three hours and the fare is around Php185. From Cabanatuan, buses and vans offer trips to Dingalan which takes around two hours. Fare costs Php90 to Php100. From the drop-off point in Dingalan, take a tricycle all the way to the Dingalan Feeder Port.

At the port, tourists should first register and then get a tour guide. One would then have the option to charter a boat going to White Beach or trek along the coast. Boat ride takes roughly fifteen minutes while trekking would take 30 to 45 minutes. Of course, renting a boat would cost more.

From White Beach, one would have to go on a twenty minute uphill trek to reach the view deck. Because of the steep elevation, the trek can be quite exhausting. However, the view at the top is so rewarding.

After savoring the view and taking lots of photos, it was time to go to the lighthouse. From the mountain view deck, one would then have to trek downhill until the half-way point. From there, it will take a fifteen-minute trek going to the lighthouse.

Of course, a trip to Dingalan will not be complete without exploring the rock formations and the caves. Other activities include swimming and cliff jumping, but ask the tour guide first if it's safe to do so.

Since the tour only takes up less than a day and can end after lunchtime, one can opt to go to other attractions such as the Tanawan Falls and Abungan Falls. Or to get the best of Aurora, head on to Baler for some surfing. For more photos, check this out.
