Binuatan Creations: Palawan's Unique Masterpieces
Enrico Dee | Apr 20, 2015
I found myself scouring for the finest table runners and placemats at the Binuatan Cradts in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
Binuatan has been weaving mats, bags and other stuff for the last 13 years.
They pride themselves in creating masterpieces using locally available tikog and amumuting grass. These grasses are harvested in nearby communities dried and dyed depending on the color preference.
Once done, weaved mats are made into other pasalubong items like table runners, placemats, handbags, cellphone and tablet sleeves, window blinds, key chains and a lot more.
The finished products are on display at the showroom just beside the weaving center. The showroom opened in 2006 and has been one of the top pasalubong shops in Palawan.
Binutuan Crafts also accepts credit and debit card for payments in case you forgot to bring enough cash.
