Your Favorite Pastel Just Got Healthier with Malunggay!

Pastel is soft buns with sweet fillings of mango, macapuno, cheese, langka, pineapple, durian, guava, strawberry, chocolate, malunggay/squash, mocha, Bavarian, green apple, raspberry, blueberry, peanut butter, and special yema.   It is one of the top 5 pasalubong from Cagayan de Oro City but is originally from the island of Camiguin.

From a filling, malunggay is now mixed to the buns to make it healthier. The yema filling on the malunggay bun is not too sweet and oily.

Malunggay or Moringa oleifera is considered a wonder food because it is very rich in antioxidants, protein, vitamin C, vitamin B6, riboflavin and iron. In fact, malunggay is used as added ingredient in rice, noodles, even in making lumpia wrappers and ice cream.
