Asia’s Biggest Fruit Market is Now Open in the Philippines, But Where?

Davao Region composed of Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Compostela Valley and Davao City is home to large plantations of banana, pomelo, durian, mango, pineapple, papaya, cacao, coffee and other fruits.

Outgoing Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr. envisioned Davao as the “largest fruit market” in this part of the world.

With this in mind, the Department of Tourism and its infrastructure arm, Tourism Infrastructure Enterprise Authority (TIEZA) and ACCENDO Commercial Corporation which owns the Abreeza Ayala Mall in Davao City agreed to put up the Phase 1 of the Asian Fruit Market at the mall.  ACCENDO has also agreed to provide 1,538.94 square meters of its fountain area to be the venue.

Fresh fruits, vegetables, processed-fruit products, fruit-based products and food and beverage services are available at the outdoor market.  Spaces have also been allotted for dining and other similar activities.

The Asian Fruit Market will be the showcase for the rich agricultural produce of Davao Region.

How to Get There: 

Major airlines fly daily to Davao City from Manila and Cebu. Abreeza Mall is just 20 minutes away from the airport.
