From the Land of Strife Comes Products From the Tree of Life

During my time in my primary and secondary years, the coconut was always regarded as the tree of life. From the top of its leaves up to the bottom or its roots, each part of the coconut can be used for different purposes from building materials, electronics, medicine, to food.
In recent years, you may have been bitten by the fresh coconut water (buko) fever because of its benefit of balancing your electrolytes in the body. It has also become a healthier alternative to sports drinks.
But what coconut products have come out of the coconut farmers of Carmen recently aside from the buko and copra?
There is coconut sugar that is all natural, no preservatives, and no artificial flavors and has a very low glycemic index which makes it good for those with diabetic tendencies and for those who already have it.
This would be a better alternative to sweeten your baked goodies and beverages.
The Seed of Life Cafe in Mamay Road, sell cookies made with coco sugar and coffee sweetened with coco sugar and VCO that gives flair to your coffee.
They even have organic banana chips that are gluten free, rich in potassium, and yes, lightly sweetened with coconut sugar.
Going back to the coconut, what we think of tuba or coconut wine is now fermented using modern technology and packaged to compete with other grape wines in the market. Because of its careful fermentation, the wine contains five times more antioxidants that your ordinary wine.
Of course, always drink moderately.
Then there is VCO or virgin coconut oil.
Virgin Coconut Oil or VCO is dubbed as a superfood because of its antioxidants and the disease fighting fatty acid, Lauric acid. It is full of healthy fats that is good for the heart.
From the VCO, there are products for hair and body care like the massage oils both for adults and kids.
VCO regulates insulin, fights fungal infection, makes the skin supple, adds shine to your hair, and a host of other benefits.
The coconut is indeed the tree of life not just in the raw materials that we get and process from it, but also the benefits that it gives our bodies.
