Puerto Princesa: Luxury Cruise Central
Renzelle Ann Palma | Feb 28, 2014
Thus it came as no surprise at all that the MV Costa Victoria, a luxury passenger cruise ship with 2,394 passengers on board, dropped its anchor for the first time at Puerto Princesa last January 7, 2014.
The Department of Tourism - Region IV, the City Government of Puerto Princesa, and Island Paradise Travel and Tours (designated as the official land tour operator) collaborated all their efforts to arrange professionalized tour services, and to manage the shore activities that made the stop a worthwhile and fun experience for the cruise passengers.
The event demonstrated the strong partnership between the public and private sector, the same tieup that answered the varied challenges to attract cruise lines to Palawan.
With the upsurge in demand for upgraded tourism services, diverse choices of activities, better modes of transportation, and availability of amenities that will respond to the expectations of the cruise passengers, the people of Puerto Princesa have met the challenge head-on.
The arrival ceremonies witnessed groups of performers singing and dancing, bringing color and cheer to the cruise passengers despite the heavy downpour. The tourists were also given a special performance by the Palawan Children’s Violinists.
It is expected that there will be more than eight cruise ships arriving at the Port of Puerto Princesa this year.
