La Fermette: Davao’s French Connection

Davao has a growing culinary smorgasbord from the native Filipino to Japanese, Italian, Vietnamese, Spanish, fusions of different cuisines, and now, French.
La Fermette is a mom and pop dairy farm that has 8 well-loved and spoiled dairy cows producing the milk for their cheese, butter, yoghurt, and other dairy products.
Each cow is fed, sanitized, and milked twice daily and not forced to produce a certain amount.
If you want to learn how to be a farmer, they have a farmer for a day program wherein children and adults wake up early to feed chickens, pigs, and cows, milk the cows, feed the two adorable calves, and observe the process of sterilizing milk or processing it to have fresh milk and cheese.
You literally have to earn your breakfast here if you want to be a farmer. Jean-Michel and Eric will guide you through the process and make you love farming.
But for those who do not want to be a farmer for a day, and just enjoy the farm life and dine on its products, La Fermette has a café bistro serving European breakfast, pasta a la carte, bhan-mi bowls, baguettes, their cheeses and butter, and homemade jams, desserts like French éclair, banana cake with cream cheese frosting, basil cheesecake, and yes, French cuisine with a twist.
Their menu changes from time to time depending on what is in season and ripe in the kitchen. But one thing is sure, it is fresh, organic, and made, cooked, and served with love.
